Current Challenges and Opportunities
As a market leader in a competitive industry, Trivium faces several challenges:
- Environmental Impact Reductions: Trivium Packaging is committed to the ‘Science-Based Targets Initiative’ with the aim to reduce energy and gas related CO2 footprint by 42% by 2030 with 2020 as our base line. To achieve this objective, Trivium Packaging must collect data on an ongoing basis from all production sites globally, analyze the resulting CO2 footprint and define corrective actions where needed.
- Enhanced Competition: A rapidly changing and constantly evolving market requires continuous strategic adjustments in processes and systems to maintain competitive advantage.
- Continues Technological Developments: Trivium continuously invests in research and development to stay at the forefront.
- Changing Consumer Preferences: It is crucial to closely monitor market trends to keep the product offerings relevant.
- Supply Chain Adjustments: Events like natural disasters and geopolitical tensions necessitate robust contingency plans to ensure Trivium's operational continuity. With the global presence of multiple production locations, an agile network can be created to manage unexpected situations.
These challenges highlight the importance for Trivium to make accurate future predictions. Only by doing so can the company make timely adjustments and remain a leader in this ever-evolving market.
Innovationby SAP Analytics Cloud
In response to these challenges, Trivium chose SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC). This solution provides powerful analytical capabilities that help the company manage their resources more efficiently. It also offers numerous planning features including "Predictive forecasting" that allows Trivium to optimize production planning, inventory management and pricing strategies.

Ongoing Improvement and Future Projections
Recent "dry-runs" at isolated sites have confirmed the capabilities of SAP Analytics Cloud. These tests have contributed to a better understanding of the tool within Trivium. The next step is a comprehensive user acceptance test. Upon successful completion of this, a definitive departure from traditional Excel-based approaches can be made and a more standardized and advanced and forecasting methodology has been realized.
In the longer term, Trivium plans to convert all existing models to driver-based models and further integrate SAP Analytics Cloud into the landscape. This will further increase the accuracy of analyses and the speed of the forecasting process that will allow the company to better respond to future needs in a rapidly changing market.
