Why Maaike has been with Finext for more than 10 years.

We are known thanks to our professionals, the Finexters. Some just started working for a month, others have years of work experience. But all are consultants and all are developing their own, and each other's, craftsmanship. Who are these 'Finexters' and what exactly do they do? Of course, they can best tell us that themselves. We ask Onestream consultant Maaike Brouwer.

OneStream

Ten years ago, I joined Finext. I started working as a trainee consultant in the Oracle team, working with software that focuses on planning and budgeting. After a few years, I was ready for something different. I started looking around the organization and ended up on the OneStream team. This meant a considerable expansion of my tasks: OneStream is more broadly applicable. Now I mainly deal with consolidation, business planning and ESG.

Tangible

Working at Finext is very varied. I am currently with four different clients for a variety of projects. I really enjoy working for companies that do or make something tangible, such as logistics or retail. It's just nice to see immediately what you're doing it for. At Action, for example, I was right next to the distribution center. I saw the trucks loading and unloading, while I was busy setting up the process more efficiently. Yes, that's just really cool! Also, for me, the more complex the task, the better. It gives me a good feeling to turn complicated problems into a simple, workable solution.

Kilimanjaro

As a consultant, you're in your head a lot, so I like to do something completely different after work, something physical, like riding a motorcycle or mountain climbing, for example. A few years ago I climbed Kilimanjaro for charity. A tough and unforgettable experience. And although it is something completely different, I still see similarities with my work as a consultant. The mountain as the client's problem, the route as the plan, the altitude stages as test phases, and finally, of course, reaching the summit as the result.

Celebrating successes

After ten years of Finext, I am far from done. Definitely not! I work with great, ambitious colleagues who I learn a lot from every day, and the culture is just right. We work hard, but there is also room for relaxation. Because the ultimate goal of all Finexters is of course to make the customer happy. When that is achieved, we always take a moment to reflect on that. In short: we celebrate our successes, and I completely agree.
