We are known thanks to our professionals, the Finexters. Some just started working for a month, others have years of work experience. But all are consultants and all are developing their own, and each other's, craftsmanship. Who are these 'Finexters' and what exactly do they do? They can best tell us that themselves, of course. We ask Mischa Wijsman, consultant in the Vena Team.
Bull's-eye
Mischa joined Finext in 2020. "I worked as a recruitment consultant before this, but realized I didn't want to do that all my life. On the recommendation of a teacher, I started talking to Finext." It turned out to be a hit. Mischa works as a consultant for the Vena team. "My role is very diverse, but essentially it's all about engaging with the client. Listening to their needs and seeing how we can translate them into a practical software solution. So in my case it's mainly about Vena Solutions."

Making yourself redundant
According to Mischa, the biggest challenge is to create something that the customer can work with independently. "Often companies want a lot, and everything is possible in principle, but the trick is to come up with a solution that everyone can work with. You want to streamline processes and eventually make yourself redundant." What makes Mischa very happy is when his work is visibly effective. "For example, the Police Department maps its financial processes with a tool we built. If there is then a political debate about the justification of expenditures, I think: we also have a share in that. I think that's pretty cool then."
Switzerland
Not only is Mischa's range of tasks diverse, so are his workplaces. "I work at home, at Finext's office and of course at the client's location." He continues: "And those clients are sometimes abroad. For example, I now work for an organization in Switzerland. I do a lot remotely, but twice a year I travel to Basel by train. Whether I also have time to do something fun then? That varies. Sometimes I'm there purely for some business appointments, but last year I combined it with a Finext winter sports trip."

Finext Friday
Because in addition to working, the organization also has plenty of room for relaxation, Mischa reveals. "We regularly do something fun together. For example, once every quarter we have the Finext Friday: a substantive afternoon followed by an enjoyable drink. And once a year we organize a trip abroad. Think winter sports, for example, or a city trip." Although all activities are without obligation, there is always a lot of enthusiasm for them. Mischa: "We all work hard, but we are also a sociable club of colleagues. Everyone just loves to participate!"
